some simply abandoned.

Churchill Mark II tank (1941), Kithurst Hill, Sussex, 2014
Supplied new to the 14th Canadian Army Tank Battalion in 1941, after suffering
an irreparable mechanical breakdown this unit was stripped of salvageable parts and used for target practice
by the 2nd Canadian Army Division who trained on the Downs above Storrington.
Post-War the tank was rolled into a bomb crater during clean-up operations and remained buried until 1993 when it was unearthed by the
Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. It remained there until September 2019, when it was removed for
restoration by a D-Day museum in France.
