St Matthew's is a damp little church, standing beside the busy A44, half buried in brambles. All my researches have turned up is a dedication and an architect, Roderick Williams of Aberystwyth. Opened in 1871 as a mission church of Llanbadarn Fawr, at that time the largest parish in Cardiganshire, it served the small village of Goginan for a number of years and closed around 2000. It looked empty in 2005 when I first passed by, and it was derelict by the time I visited in 2010.

The property was recently offered for sale under direction from the Church in Wales at a price of £135,000 with permission to convert the building into a 4 bedroom house. At the time of writing (July '10) the property has been withdrawn from the market and appears to have been sold.
